I believe in a therapy process that is as unique as you are. My approach is authentic in nature. When you meet with me you will not meet a “traditional” therapist.  It's highly likely I will be in a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Hidden under the sweatshirt you will find a fully tattooed human.   I believe in honouring oneself and where they are in the moment, regardless of what that moment is.  You may see me wrapped in a blanket, walking around without shoes and I may even be sitting on the floor. One thing for sure is, I will be fidgeting! I openly identify as a neuroqueer human who is quick witted and enjoys when clients feel comfortable enough to share their dark humour. As you may have noticed, and maybe figured out, I do not like labels, this is noted by my use of “human” frequently throughout the website.

I specialize in treating PTSD of all types.  I have supported clients in processing through sexual abuse, sexual assault, suicides and other traumatic deaths, accidents, hate crimes, religious trauma and so much more. No trauma is too big to be healed. I use a combination of EMDR, Brainspotting, TFCBT, exposure work, parts work and other somatic modalities.

Additionally, I specialise in working with humans who identify as ADHDers and/or Autistic, humans that are part of the LGBT+ community and those who engage in non traditional relationships (ENM, Poly, kink ect). I enjoy working with clients in their exploration of all parts of self, as they heal and become their authentic self.

I am a fierce advocate for Gender Affirming care and helping families access proper support for their children, particularly in the school system. I provide gender affirming letters of support and will advocate as much as needed with the medical professionals on each client's support team.

I typically work with clients aged 15+. I work with individuals, families, couples (I do not work with CIS Straight couples) and I have done some work with thruples on up to the kitchen table. While these are the areas I specialize in I do occasionally like to mix it up so don't be afraid to reach out if you think I could be a good fit for you.

I practice from a harm reduction, sex positive, health at every size perspective.

What you can expect from me:

A Safe Space: A non-judgmental, confidential environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings.

Collaborative Goal-Setting: Working together to identify and achieve your personal goals. We will work at your pace, regardless of how big or little the steps are.

Empathy and Understanding: Deep listening and genuine understanding to validate your experiences and feelings.

Growth and Empowerment: Empowering you with the tools and insights to foster growth and resilience.

Humble and Human: Just like you, I make mistakes too. Should I say or do something that didn't feel right or that bothered you, I ask that you call me out. I am in this with you, not ahead of you. I will strive to do my best to repair anytime it's necessary.

Beyond the Therapy Room

When I'm not in the therapy room, I can often be found out in nature. The earth grounds me and I can get lost for hours doing mindless outdoor things. If I am not rejuvenating in nature I can usually be found on the sidelines of some gym court or soccer field cheering my kids on. If it's a rainy or snowy day I can often be found getting lost in legos or a coloring book, snuggled under a heated blanket with at least 1 of my 3 dogs nearby. These experiences enrich my practice and enable me to connect with clients on a more personal level.

Fun Facts about Ashley:

Contrary to what many people think, I am not from the east coast. In fact, I was born and raised right next door in WI. I am a die hard cheesehead…. But not a Rogers fan! I grew up on farms most of my childhood and used to raise/show horses.

I am highly sensitive and very intuitive. I often can feel the physical sensations my clients have during therapy, sense things before they happen, and more than one peer has called out my “spidey sense.”

I simply can not grow or keep plants alive. Most of what is in my office is fake or the few that are real… well lets just give them time…

A Couple of my favorite quotes:

“Imperfection is perfection.”

“I don’t have ducks or a row….. I have squirrels and they appear to be at a rave.”
